Focus on Progress, Not Perfection

Progress really isn’t that hard to pursue.  But marketing intends to overwhelm us by highlighting failures in everything we do.  The intent is to make it seem so challenging that we can’t do this without their guidance.  The details aren’t wrong but they focus too much on minutiae.  Start with the bigger picture.  You shouldn’t focus on the little things if the bigger, foundational, elements aren’t properly in place first.
First, do you give yourself the grace to commit time to you?  It is not selfish so start there.  Next, structure that time.  Give yourself 45 minutes each morning and use 30 of it for strength training and 15 for cardio.  Take a multi-vitamin and have a glass of water each morning when you wake up.  Make a protein smoothie for the road to stay properly nourished through the morning.
These are examples of the basics.  Don’t overthink it.  Just do something and worry about refining it once a routine has formed.  Create a pattern, then enhance it with one more step, and continue this process.  Start with the big picture and then grow into the details to prevent an overwhelming experience.
